South Africa, Johannesburg’s Sizzle Manizzle (25) who is the self-proclaimed “Queen of uMrivitho has released a 5 track EP titled ‘Make it Rain. The singles on the E.P are :
1.Make It Rain
2. Ride Or Die
3. Le Genda
4. Ingonyama kaZulu
5. RIP( Lioness)
The EP is a lockdown project that showcases Sizzle’s multifaceted creative side and having put in a lot of work and experimentation with an array of new sounds that have produced a mix of hip hop, soulful and street amapiano. What makes this project extra special is that it is all-female features, which includes 1 international feature, Xe` from Canada and Mickey Monarch. The lead single is titled Make it Rain, and it is a reference to money. The inspiration behind it is black girl magic, the quest for money, making boss moves, taking over the game, and to just keep on going despite everything that is happening globally with COVID-19. Ride or Die is a song that touches on the dynamics of relationships one can find themselves in., especially when you were supposed to be ride or dies and that significant other disappoints by breaking their promises. Produced by Chris Carter, the song showcases the life experiences when it comes to Sizzle’s relationship. Ingonyama YeZulu is produced by Vugar Mbeats, and is an ode to the beautiful Zulu culture, where it embraces the inner and outer beauty of the Zulu women, specifically her legs because Zulu’s women are known for having stunning legs and are celebrated and praised for it. Track 4 titled Le Genda is a street piano vibe that is about women empowerment and women taking their power back from men who still believe in patriarchy. It expresses how women should always support, empower, and love each other. Ngilekelele (RIP Lioness) is a track that features Mezzo and Destro is a cry for help. It is for days where you do not feel like yourself and you are going through the most. It is a song that says, it is okay to cry, it is okay to go through the emotions and not bottle everything inside. Crying out for help is not something to be ashamed of and that is the message that is conveyed in this track. It is also in remembrance of Lioness who was tragically murdered. Make it Rain is the first offering that Sizzle Manizzle has to offer and there is still more yet to come.
Make it Rain is available on Apple Music, you can preview it below.
